Sugar Bay climate - a reason to plan your trip now
St. Thomas is located in the middle of the Caribbean, and it can get quite hot during the spring and summer months. Because of this, many tourists go during the fall and winter months, especially during the weeks that coincide with school vacations. This is a family-friendly island, and as a result you will encouter many younger children. If this would be a problem for you, it might be better to make sure you are not going during a big holiday week(Christmas vacation, February break, Spring Break) and opt for a vacation in the spring or summer. If you are close to the beaches you will have a nice breeze that cools down the area, but if you are off the coast even just a little the temperatures will increase dramatically. Another thing to keep in mind is that many features of the island change throughout the seasons. During winter, the water will be much cooler than during the summer, and much of the lush vegetation will be dead or dying in the summer heat. The North side of the island does stay lush year around and only the South side of the island becomes dry and brown.
